This picture on the right is a couple of my coworkers and I at the leadership conference a few months ago. It was a great experience to network and learn more about the VEI world.

Professionally, we visited a leadership conference as a company earlier in the year. At this conference we got to mingle and converse with other VEI companies and attend sessions that gave us tips and insight on how to run a VEI company successfully and efficiently. At this particular conference, I was part of the runner up group for an marketing activity involving Domino's Pizza. I collaborated with other students from Waubonsie, St. Charles, and other Neuqua companies to come up with a quick 60 second elevator pitch for our marketing scheme. I represented Spectrum well by showing teamwork skills and on-the-spot thinking to effectively create an original idea. I feel like this conference let me be professional amongst my peers and in a real world simulation of a business conference or meeting. I believe I would give myself a B- professionally just because I have a goofy personality and I feel like in the future if I can stay more focused and on task a larger percent of work time then I can improve my grade to an A.

Core Technology
So far in VEI, I have used a computer almost every day. Being in the accounting department, I have to constantly check our firm bank account, process payments and journalize transactions for our sales. I have created multiple Microsoft excel spreadsheets to document our sales and other transactions for our company. I have also used the google drive format to share documents amongst other coworkers and our chiefs. I feel like I've used my knowledge of excel to organize our information and make it convenient for other coworkers in different departments understand what is happening. I would give myself an A in this aspect since I use my techniques in a positive way to help the company. I will continue to stay organized and explore new programs and ways of doing things digitally to improve my skills.

Functional
I used my knowledge in Accounting and what I've learned from those classes to develop a lot of documents and analyze our success as a company. I can journalize, create financial statements, and communicate with my team to correct mistakes and maintain success. I give myself an A with this because I am knowledgeable about accounting and know what I have to do. To improve, I will continue to study and learn from other peers.

This is the income statement I prepared for Spectrum this year. I used the functional knowledge I have for accounting to craft this statement.

Professional
This semester in VEI, we had a trade show at Neuqua amongst only the Neuqua companies. During this trade show, I was designated as the only employee in our company to work our booth during the entire second period. Me being in the accounting and finance department, I am not too familiar with sales and marketing strategies to pitch to customers. That day, there was a huge line at our booth and one by one I had to be professional enough to pitch our product to the customers and communicate what our company is about. I would give myself an A on this particular instance with this because I felt I did an excellent job and I made a total of 42 sales in one period all by myself. To improve in the future, I think it just takes a little more practice and experience pitching to real people.

Recently, Tim, Joseph, Lea, Adithi and I spoke with Mr. Giovanani, who works in the district. We proposed a sales contract to him and offered a deal for him to pay us a certain amount of money and receive a certain amount of party packages a month. We had to construct details over the money and organize new party packages to fit his needs. We used functional business skills to pitch our offer to him, pitch our company to him, explain the financial aspect, and negotiate a deal. I would give myself a B+ on this. I felt like I knew what I was talking about and understood the client's goal and our goal. I feel like I should've been more captivating and tried to reel him in more with something unique and out of the ordinary. To improve, I probably can think creatively and prepare a little more effectively.

This is a paper copy of the sales contract we originally proposed to Mr. Giovanani. We went a little off script during the actual meeting but this was our goal.
